Separating dealer forecasts from commitments

A forecast expresses an expectation; a commitment should identify an agreed action and owner.

A practical approach

Keep projected sales volume separate from projects already accepted into operations. Record the assumptions behind a forecast, including staffing and market readiness. Review changes without rewriting the original estimate. This makes a planning conversation more useful and prevents a hopeful pipeline number from being mistaken for scheduled work.

Put it into practice

  1. Label forecasts clearly
  2. Record assumptions
  3. Track accepted projects separately

General workflow guidance. Confirm current responsibilities, availability and terms with the appropriate team. This article is not a project-specific technical assessment or a promise of compensation.
