Avoiding duplicate operational tasks
Duplicate tasks can cause repeated customer requests and conflicting ownership.
A practical approach
Search the project record before creating another task for the same issue. If the new information belongs to an existing task, update it and notify the owner. If a separate task is necessary, explain the distinction. Review duplicates by their intended outcome rather than simply matching their titles.
Put it into practice
- Check existing tasks first
- Update the relevant owner
- Explain separate outcomes
