Discussing roof area without confusing plan area
An overhead outline and the surface area of a sloping roof describe different measurements.
A practical approach
Label the quantity you are discussing and use the report’s verified definitions. If a figure is only a horizontal plan measurement, do not present it as the final roofing area. Ask the measurement reviewer to resolve unclear pitch or missing faces. Keep independently supplied measurements linked to their source rather than blending them invisibly into the drawing.
Put it into practice
- Label the quantity type
- Resolve missing pitch information
- Preserve measurement sources
