Writing a customer update when nothing has changed
An update can still be useful when it explains what remains pending and who is watching it.
A practical approach
State the current stage, the outstanding dependency and the next planned check. Avoid inventing progress to make the message sound positive. If the earlier expectation changed, acknowledge it directly. Give the customer a clear contact route for new information rather than asking them to keep checking with several people.
Put it into practice
- State the pending dependency
- Name the next check
- Avoid invented progress
General workflow guidance. Confirm current responsibilities, availability and terms with the appropriate team. This article is not a project-specific technical assessment or a promise of compensation.
