Recording a field-measured roof dimension
A field measurement needs enough context for another reviewer to understand what it represents.
A practical approach
Record the endpoints, units, measurement method and source. State whether the length follows the roof slope or a horizontal projection. Link it to the correct line identifier when available. Do not replace a model’s total area with a single line measurement or assume that changing a listed length automatically corrects the drawing.
Put it into practice
- Identify endpoints and units
- State plan versus slope
- Link the measurement to the line
