Recording the customer’s decision accurately
A proposal outcome should reflect the customer’s stated decision, not the rep’s expectation.
A practical approach
Use separate statuses for accepted, declined, reviewing and waiting for information. Include the reason the customer chose to share, without inventing one. If another step is required before the project can proceed, keep it visible. Accurate outcomes make follow-up more respectful and forecasting more useful.
Put it into practice
- Use the stated outcome
- Avoid invented reasons
- Keep pending steps visible
